Jojima Kawara THE RAIL KITCHEN CHIKUGO

Jojima kawara is a traditional craft with a 400-year history. These beautiful practical tiles have protected the roofs of traditional Japanese-style homes in Kyushu. Inside the train, these tiles are used for walls of dining areas and restrooms. They are known for their elegant “ibushi-gin” finish, which combines a glossy silver appearance with reddish-brown tones. The unique color combination and design enhance their appeal.

*Among them, the decorative ridge tiles known as “Jojima Onigawara” are designated as a specialty craft and folk art by the Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture.
