[About Cars and Seats]
- Are the seats unreserved or reserved? Can I choose my preferred seat?
The seats on this train are all reserved seats. There are no unreserved seats.
Unfortunately, passengers cannot choose their own seats. The seating is assigned by the railway company.
- Can I ride alone? Also, is there a possibility I’ll have to share a seat with someone?
You can ride alone; you will generally not be seated with others. However, if you book through a travel agency, their rules may apply, so it’s best to check with them.
- Are there smoking areas?
There are no designated smoking areas onboard and all seats are no-smoking.
- Are there restrooms?
Car 1 has a multipurpose (accessible) restroom, and Car 3 has a regular restroom. Both are unisex.
- Can I board on wheelchair?
Wheelchair users are welcome. However, please inform us during the booking process so we can allocate the available wheelchair-accessible seats.
- Are there anywhere I can store my luggage or a stroller?
Due to limited space, if you have large items like strollers or bulky luggage that cannot be kept with you, please notify us during booking.
- Can I board with my pet?
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed onboard. However, service animals (guide dogs, assistance dogs, hearing dogs) are permitted.

- Can I board without a reservation?
This train operates on a fully reserved seating system. Passengers without reservations cannot board.
- When can I make a reservation? How many days in advance can I apply?
Applications are accepted from 11:00 AM on the first business day of the month two months prior to the operation date until 12:00 PM (noon) two days before the operation date.
- What are the methods for making reservations?
You can make reservations through three methods:

- Is there a plan for boarding only (without meals)?
There is no plan for boarding only.
- Are there children’s menus available?
Yes, we have children’s menu.
-Ages 0-2 (no meal): Free for boarding. Children who want a menu for children will be provided one for 7,000 yen (including tax). -Ages 3-10: Children’s menus available for 7,000 yen (including tax). Regular menus are provided for 13,000 yen (including tax). -Ages 11 and above: Regular menus are provided for 13,000 yen (including tax).
- What payment methods are accepted?
For online reservations: Credit card payment or bank transfer. For phone reservations: Bank Transfer or signless payment over the phone.
- If I don’t receive an email confirmation upon reservation completion or ticket delivery, what should I do?

- How will I receive my boarding tickets?
Your e-ticket (final confirmation) will be emailed to you by the day before your departure.
- If I accidentally delete the emailed boarding ticket, what should I do?

- Can I receive a receipt?
If you made a web reservation, you will be able to issue a receipt from My Page as your travel date approaches.
Receipts cannot be reissued, so please ensure the payee/recipient name is entered correctly.
For telephone reservations or special services such as event runs, please contact the reservation center to request a receipt.
- Can I board or alight at intermediate stations?
The "Thursday Lunch Course" and the "Weekend/Holiday Early Lunch" do not permit boarding or alighting at intermediate stations.
The "Friday Travel Lunch" allows boarding at Dazaifu and alighting at Yanagawa. Also, the "Weekend/Holiday Late Lunch" permits alighting at Yanagawa.
On the day only, up to the departure time at Dazaifu Station, you may, upon presenting your ticket, ride limited‑express, express, or local trains other than THE RAIL KITCHEN CHIKUGO from Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station to Dazaifu Station.
If you alight at Yanagawa Station, you may not re‑board THE RAIL KITCHEN CHIKUGO; however, you may take limited‑express, express, or local trains other than THE RAIL KITCHEN CHIKUGO from Yanagawa Station to Ōmuta Station.
Please notify staff at the Yanagawa Station ticket gate.
[About “THE RAIL KITCHEN CHIKUGO Limited 1-Day Pass”]
- What is THE RAIL KITCHEN CHIKUGO Limited 1-Day Pass?
It is exclusively available to the passengers, and allows unlimited boarding and alighting on the Tenjin Omuta Line, Dazaifu Line, and Amagi Line for one day only.
The fare for the pass is 650 yen for adults, and 330 yen for children (tax included).
- How do I purchase the pass?
You can purchase the pass at station ticket counters (excluding unmanned stations).
At the station ticket counter, please either present the ticket that was sent to you by email (or other means) or give your reservation number and name.
If you board at an unmanned station where one‑day tickets cannot be purchased, please pass through the ticket gate as is and purchase the one‑day ticket at a staffed station—such as Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station or Dazaifu Station—where you will board THE RAIL KITCHEN CHIKUGO.
- Where can I buy the pass?
Purchase it at station ticket counters with manned gates. For unmanned stations, obtain a “boarding station certificate” from the station and buy the pass at the first station where you alight.
- What is the validity period of the pass?
It is valid only on the day of travel on THE RAIL KITCHEN CHIKUGO.
- What is the purchasing process for application outside THE RAIL KITCHEN CHIKUGO Reservation Center (e.g., via travel agencies)?
Provide the representative’s name or group's name at the station counter; the reservation acceptance number is not required for applications made through travel agencies.
- Is refund provided?
Refunds are not available after travel begins. Additionally, there will be no refunds for any difference in price between this pass and other purchased tickets.
[About Meals and Drinks]
- What is included in the course meal?
- Is there a menu other than the course meal?
We have alcohol (beer, sake, shochu, wine, whiskey. Fruit wine), and soft drinks available. Please see here for details.
- How is the payment for non-course items handled?
Orders for beverages and goods not included in the course will be paid on the train. Various payment methods (cash, credit card, transportation system IC card, PayPay, Union Pay) will be accepted.
- Do you accommodate food allergies?
We have a list of allergenic ingredients, so please check in advance. However, please note that we cannot change the menu or remove allergens if they are included.
For allergens not listed on the allergen list, please inquire.
We prepare food using the same cooking area and utensils that may contain allergens.
- Can food and drinks be brough into the train?
We strictly prohibit bringing food and drinks into the train.
[About Changes and Cancellations]
- If I want to change the travel date or course, what should I do?
You’ll need to cancel your existing reservation and make a new one. Please note that cancellation fees may apply.
- How can I cancel my reservation?

- When do cancellation fees apply?
Cancellation fees apply starting 10 days before the travel date.

- When will refunds be processed?
For credit card payments, refunds will follow the terms of the affiliated card company. Otherwise, refunds will be made via bank transfer within 30 days from the day the refund is initiated.

- Where should I go and at what time on the day of boarding?
Please arrive at the reception area near the manned ticket gate at the north exit of Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station at least 20 minutes before the departure time.

- What should I do for inquiries on the day of boarding?

- What happens to travel plans in case of natural disasters or accidents?
In the event of natural disasters, accidents, or outbreak of infectious diseases that make operation difficult, the service may be suspended. In such cases, a partial or full refund of the travel fare will be provided.
- Is there a waiting room?
There is no dedicated waiting room for “THE RAIL KITCHEN CHIKUGO.”
- Is chartering for private use of the train possible?
